Metro Detroit's design community was celebrated at the 14th Annual Detroit Home Design Awards Presented by Michigan Design Center on March 29, 2018 at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center. Guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, cocktails, and a live presentation of the 2018 Detroit Home Design Awards, followed by an AfterGlow.
On March 30, the 13th Annual Detroit Home Design Awards were held at the Suburban Collection Showplace. The event presented awards to Detroit's design professionals. Guests enjoyed cocktails, a strolling dinner, and an awards ceremony hosted by Evrod Cassimy from WDIV Local 4.
On Aug. 5, Hour Detroit and Detroit Home magazine held the first annual Downtown Living Tour, showcasing seven developments throughout the city. Tourgoers viewed the Scott at Brush Park, DuCharme Place, Fort Shelby Residences, The Griswold, Capitol Park Lofts, and Bedrock Residential Pop-up in Capitol Park.
On June 16-18, the Troy Historical Society and Image and Arts Council of Troy held the 2nd annual Art, Mix & Mingle event in the Troy Historical Village. The three-day event featured artwork from local artists, historical building tours, kid-friendly activities, and more.
On April 1, the Design Industry Volunteer Alliance held a cocktail party at Art | Harrison Interiors in Royal Oak. The event raised funds and awareness for the Ruth Ellis Center in Highland Park, a youth social services agency that serves runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth, with an emphasis on the LGBTQ community.
On March 23, the 12th Annual Detroit Home Design Awards ceremony was held at Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center. The event celebrated local design professionals who have created traditional and modern designs, followed by an AfterGlow event at the Whitney.

The Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids' (DIFFA) Dining by Design, which benefits the Michigan Aids Coalition (MAC) featured several talented table designers.
The 27th Annual Birmingham House Tour, hosted by The Community House in Birmingham, was a great success. Tourgoers gave high marks to the five beautiful homes on the tour that opened to the public on a mid-September day.
Dozens attended interior designer Paul Feiten’s party/fundraiser at his Bloomfield Hills home for the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan and The HOPE (Helping Others through Partnership and Education) Fund.
