Five questions with … Jacqueline Linklater
Jacqueline Linklater felt there was nowhere to go for bright, whimsical décor. So she took action. As owner of Rochester’s Purple Pear, she offers a fully functioning interior design studio, along with an interesting mix of furniture and accessories. Recently, Detroit Home stopped in to pose our favorite five questions.
As far as trends go, what are you seeing now that’s fun?
I would say that color trends are important right now. People are embracing bolder hues these days, especially with anchor pieces such as a sofa or chair.
How do you keep things fresh?
Changing accessories on a seasonal basis can really liven up the look of a room, giving it a fresh new spin. Also, if your house has a similar palette or feeling, you can rearrange or move items from one area to another. This makes for a simple, cost-effective change.
When you think of style constants in your life, what are they?
I always gravitate toward fun fabrics in bright, bold colors, polka dots, and great texture. I also include meaningful pieces within my designs, such as family heirlooms or a favorite antique.
What companies or labels do you love right now?
Company C has a really great rug line with a lot of color and pattern. They also have beautiful linens, pillows, and throws. I’m also a fan of the Four Seasons furniture line, which has fantastic slipcovers in a variety of chic fabrics and prints.
Finally, if you could choose one thing to buy this season, what would it be?
I’ll be buying some great home-office furniture. With families being so busy these days, I find that creating an organized command center for the home is definitely needed.
