DesRosiers Architects Indoor lighting is primarily RSA’s high-performance recessed lighting that’s square and flush to the ceiling. LED Xenon indirect lighting strips within the coved ceilings create warmth and highlight architectural details. LED alternating-color lighting was used in the waterfall wall, and indirect fluorescents are beneath the onyx bar and backsplash. Exterior lighting highlights architectural details.

DesRosiers Architects Crosscut filled travertine slabs are used as flooring for the main living areas; the same material laid in a random pattern is used for the lower level. Fond du Lac limestone walls complement interior and exterior materials. Piers veneered in unfilled classic travertine add a softer counterbalance. The same material is applied to the fireplace, framing the American walnut panel.

Motawi Tileworks Tile unifies this home, establishing the color palette and context. Artisanal tile in the foyer sets the tone for the two fireplaces, the kitchen backsplash, and wet bar. Handmade ceramic tile in eight glazes composes the field tile of the foyer and entry hall.

Interior doors have no head frame or casing, making them appear as ceiling-to-floor panels. Solid African teak ceilings have tongue-and-groove boards with blind fastening and extensive mitering at the corners of the vaulted tray design. Perimeter millwork contains an elaborate recessed pocket housing for lighting, air supply/return, and window shades.

AZD Architects This foyer stair and rail was designed to be nearly transparent, allowing for lake views. A steel spine supports timber treads, and a 16-foot glass bridge beside the stair lends openness to the lower level. The rails of steel angles and cables are placed on one side of the stair, which is supported on the ends by masonry blocks.

AZD Architects This floor was designed to connect the two sides of the upper level while keeping the view open through the two-story atrium, which goes from the foyer through the house to the water side, giving guests a view of the ocean. The glass bridge is large enough to hold the owner’s antique motorcycle.

Ourchitecture This custom design of upper cabinetry, a sculpture in relief, was designed in 3-D CAD modeling and fabricated with Digital CNC machinery, which reduces assembly time, cost, and waste. Fine art-like storage with translucent acrylic cabinet sliding doors visually lighten the cube-like cabinet. Soffit screening is also in translucent acrylic for back lighting.

Vogue Furniture This custom home-office credenza with a ’60s-mod vibe was designed to be placed in front of floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking Lake Michigan. Its undulating wave pattern emulates the water. The lacquer box sits atop a polished stainless-steel base built by a Detroit metalsmith.
