Polished-chrome faucets and sconces lend drama to the darker tile and glass. Behind the tub are hand-selected slabs of marble.

Xstyles bath+more In this typical ’50s bungalow bath, the staircase from the floor below intersected the floor in the back corner, so the tub was rotated to incorporate the staircase as a bench seat. The dividing wall provided additional storage inside the bath area, and outside the bath became a display. The dark floor acts as a foundation for the wenge stained furniture pieces and new pocket door. A frosted-glass panel compensates for the lack of windows, admitting ambient light. Custom furniture maximized space.

Tracy Garfield Interiors This bedroom, created for pre-teen feminine sensibilities, is designed to grow with the girl. Soft lime-greens and bright blues add spunk and personality. The focal-point classic four-poster bed is flanked by bold ceramic blue lamps. A gathered window valance is done in a small-scale polka-dot print, a pattern that’s repeated throughout the room.

Serba Interiors This Florida winter residence for a collector of contemporary art has a gallery feel. White stone, wood, and plaster serve as a blank canvas for colorful art. Lighting was retracted into the ceiling, creating a clean horizontal plane throughout the home. Art is illuminated with miniature pin spots, while fixtures, where used, are pieces of art themselves. Furnishings were selected for their sculptural form, modern aesthetic, and colorful appearance.

Educated Garage Systems This detached garage balances functional utility, cutting-edge design, and low maintenance with ample storage for tools and toys. Locking cabinets keep the children out of harm’s way; open storage permits easy access to playthings and bikes. Modular design and cabinets on wheels allow reconfiguration as needs and lifestyles change. The tile floor stands up to the heaviest SUVs, and its non-slip tread plate finish provides an indoor playground. Contrasting colors highlight the workbench and outline the parking bays. The expanded recycling center makes it easy to be green.

Furnishings and finishes include Mattaliano barstools upholstered in Schumacher chenille, Hickory Chair seating covered in Great Plains Linen, a “barely there” chandelier from Curry & Co., a large-format oil found in New York City, a table from Formations, and a 3-inch-thick statuary-marble counter.

The ceiling is coated in silver leaf with a hand-applied distressed finish.

The Natura bound rug is Stark; the oil over the sofa is by Eric Zener.

The room extends across the front and rear of the house as one large space. The barn wood ceiling and wooden floors run throughout the space. The room expands to the second-floor porch, which acts as a buffer between the street and private areas.

McIntosh Poris Associates In this uniquely shaped room, the eye is immediately drawn to the freestanding onyx sink in front of a full-height leaded-glass window. A pot filler replaces a typical sink faucet, and a distinctive mirror hangs over the window. A wing wall adds symmetry and doubles as a divider between sink and toilet. The walls are covered with custom cherry-wood paneling.

Michael Coyne Design, with Kim Bondy This boat well houses a 60-foot Hacker-Craft that’s suspended out of the water to protect its solid-teak hull. The stair railing is repeated as a guardrail around the dock and a framed antique life ring from a decommissioned cruise ship hangs on the boat-well wall. The interior floor is American walnut with brushed-nickel inlay. The bench is mid-century.

There’s direct access to the attached garage, front courtyard, and side garden path to the lake. A powder room, laundry room, mechanical, and storage closets are nearby.
