Detroit had yet to become “The Motor City” when Indian Village’s first homes began construction in 1895. In those days, Detroiters in horse-drawn carriages marveled at the neighborhood’s majestic homes in much the same way we do today — minus the horses, of course. This year, the village celebrates its architectural pedigree with its 35th Annual Home & Garden Tour. The second oldest in Michigan, the tour — held June 7 — is one of the summer’s many local home-and-garden tours and a great way to get an inside look at some of the city’s most notable addresses.
